In 1981, the Hungarian Society for Immunology (MIT) established the Kesztyűs Lóránd Memorial Medal, named after its founding president, immunologist and university professor Loránd Kesztyűs, former rector of the University of Debrecen (DOTE), which is awarded every three years to Hungarian researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of immunology and immunobiology. In 2025, the presidency of the Hungarian Society for Immunology and previous recipients of the award presented the medal to Prof. Dr. Péter Németh, professor emeritus at the Institute of Immunology and Biotechnology at the University of Pécs, for his outstanding work in the field of immunology. The award was presented at the Society's 54th Travelling Conference held in Kecskemét between October 15 and 17, 2025.
