Medical and pharmacy students in Pécs collecting donations for families in need
November 14, 2025
Students of the Medical and Pharmacy Faculties in Pécs are collecting stationery, toys, sweets, and hygiene products for families in need, in cooperation with the local team of the Heti Betevő Association. Donations will be accepted between November 24th and December 19th, and the collected items will be distributed to those in need on December 21st as part of a food distribution event.
The Heti Betevő Association began as a grassroots civil initiative. It operates entirely through volunteers, independently of politics or religious organizations, and covers all costs of food distribution through donations. The Pécs team has been serving hot meals, homemade pastries, and fruit every other Sunday in Uránváros since April 2016.
According to their website, the number of volunteers continues to grow, but the number of registered families in need is also increasing rapidly each year. Now, joining forces with the university’s medical and pharmacy faculties, they are collecting donations — mainly sweets, hygiene products, children’s toys, and stationery. Donations can be placed in the collection boxes set up next to the entrance of the Dr. György Romhányi Hall between November 24th and December 19th.
The collected items will be handed over on Sunday, December 21st, starting at 12:30 p.m., during a food distribution under the Uránváros overpass, near the Pécs City Ice Rink. Members of the medical and pharmacy faculties — students, teachers, and staff — who wish to help with the distribution can indicate their intention via a registration form until December 19th, 12:00 noon.
