One of the world's most modern surgical robots is coming to the MediSkillsLab

January 29, 2025

Students at the University of Pécs Medical School have the chance to get familiar with Versius, one of the world's most unique, new generation robotic surgical systems, between 3–7 February in the educational operating room of the Medical Skills Education and Innovation Centre.

Versius, the British surgical system, allows high precision and laparoscopic operations and as highlighted on the manufacturer's website, due to its small size it can be easily placed into all kind of operating room.

Thanks to the innovative "V-wrist" technology, Versius is uniquely small, modular and portable. The 360 degrees of wrist rotation enables the use of small instruments which leads to smaller incisions and faster regeneration.

„Versius is not only a modern device, but also a revolutionary leap in surgery, which brings novelties even for experienced robot-assissted surgeons.” – said Associate Professor Dr. Zalán SZÁNTÓ, head of the Surgical Techniques Group of the Medical Skills Education and Innovation Centre at the University of Pécs Medical School. Students will be able to spend approximately 50 minutes exploring the device during the presentation. First, they will learn how to use the system with simulated situations, then they will have the opportunity to practice suturing with a real pelvitrainer.

Students can explore Versius between 3–7 February throughout these periods of time:

  • Monday, between 11:00–18:00
  • Tuesday–Thursday, between 8:00–18:00
  • Friday, between 8:00–14:30

Location:

  • University of Pécs Medical School, Medical Skills Education and Innovation Centre, 4th floor, Southwest Wing, educational operating room
