HVG Diploma 2025: the Medical School in Pécs has made significant progress
December 5, 2024
HVG’s Diploma 2025 issue has been published, ranking not only universities but also faculties according to the excellence of students and teachers. The Medical School in Pécs improved several places in both criteria.
Every year, HVG composes its annual Diploma issue, which ranks not only the institutions but also the faculties and lists several fields of study and programmes, providing a detailed picture of Hungarian higher education institutions.
In the case of student excellence, they also consider the number of applicants whose first choice was the University of Pécs, the admitted students’ point average, the percentage of students with a language exam and the number of students with achievements in secondary school competitions.
The ranking of academic excellence looked at the number of students per teacher with an academic degree, the number and proportion of teachers with an academic degree, and the proportion of teachers with a Doctor of the Academy (MTA) title.
The UP Medical School has made progress in several segments. It improved from the 19th to the 5th place in the ranking of faculties, in terms of student excellence, it was placed 38th in 2024 and moved up to the 9th place in 2025, and also moved up from the 20th to the 16th place in terms of teaching excellence.
The Medical School in Pécs has also moved up in the HVG ranking in the fields of medicine and health sciences: while last year the institute was ranked fifth in terms of student excellence, in the 2025 list it is in second place after SE-ÁOK.
