Junior Alumni
From POTEntial Alumni to Alumni with POTEntial
Hungarian higher education institutions lack the Western sense of alumni tradition. The Alumni Team aims to facilitate the reconnection with the Alma Mater and fellow alumni, promote networking, and build a global social-professional alumni network. As an investment in these prospective connections, from 2021 we piloted a so-called Junior Alumni Program (JAP) to shift the focus from reconnection to building connections right from the start.
We believe in the strength of personal connections and that addressing and engaging Alumni begins with the recruitment of prospective candidates. Both domestic and international students need to be engaged while they are studying here, as it is extremely difficult to address them after they leave Pécs.
JAP is a volunteer-based extracurricular program emphasizing alumni influence. It mirrors a typical medical student’s career path, with 80% of events focused on self-development. Workshops and specialty cafes, led by alumni, offer authentic insights and create a natural setting for interaction and networking between current students (JAP attendees) and established alumni.
JAP aims to bridge the gap between the academic curriculum and real-world medical practice by connecting students with alumni for scientific interaction, soft skills development, and career guidance. These events complement the traditional curriculum, leveraging alumni expertise to provide students with exclusive knowledge in the form of workshops, professional/motivational/specialty/destination cafés and carrier inns.
