THE Impact Rankings 2026: University of Pécs among Hungary’s top three universities

The University of Pécs has been placed in the 401–600 band of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026 and is among the top three universities in Hungary.
According to information released by the University of Pécs, the 2026 assessment evaluated the performance of 1,646 universities from 116 countries against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among Hungarian higher education institutions, the University of Pécs achieved a shared first place in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), while ranking second in SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Among the individual indicators, the University performed particularly strongly in the measure assessing the proportion of students arriving from developing countries, earning 94.9 out of 100 points. This result highlights the institution’s international outlook and its commitment to strengthening global access to higher education and promoting equal opportunities.
The University of Pécs’ sustainability efforts are reflected in its education, research, international relations, institutional operations, and social responsibility initiatives. For years, the University has been committed to ensuring that sustainability is embedded across all areas of its operations rather than being confined to individual projects.
The statement emphasised that the University’s performance in the THE Impact Rankings 2026 demonstrates that its sustainability efforts are gaining international recognition. It also reinforces the institution’s commitment to contributing to the achievement of the sustainable development goals through its educational, research, and community engagement activities.
