June 19, 2026
Institute of Physiology report
Organized by the Hungarian Physiological Society (MÉT) and the Hungarian Society for Microcirculation and Vascular Biology (MMVBT), the 88th MÉT and MMVBT 2026 Joint Conference was held in Budapest between June 10 and 12, 2026. This conference represents one of the most prestigious domestic forums in the field of theoretical medical sciences.
The aim of the event was to provide a platform for presenting the latest breakthroughs in physiology, microcirculation, and vascular research, while strengthening both national and international scientific collaborations. The scientific program also highlighted valuable perspectives for clinical and translational relevance.
Our Department was well-represented by our colleagues, who contributed oral presentations and poster:
-
Dr. István Szabó: Revisiting physiology education: current challenges and structured dialogue for future directions
-
Dr. Katalin Fusz: Associations between chronotype, diurnal cortisol rhythm and insomnia severity among healthcare professionals in shift work
-
Dr. Ferenc Lengyel: The effect of PACAP on testicular peritubular myoid cells
-
Dr. Gergely Kovács: The effect of genetic ablation of PACAP on testicular structure
Our staff members also actively participated as chairs and organizers in two major scientific sessions:
-
Session VI. Mechanisms of brain disorders: cellular, vascular and stress-responsive pathways - Prof. Dr. Erika Pintér, Prof. Dr. Dóra Zelena
-
Session V. Circadian Rhythms from Research to Clinical Practice - Prof. Dr. Krisztina Kádi, Dr. Katalin Fusz, and Dr. Péter Kanizsai
