Pathophysiology ECG Workshop October 2025 – Learning, Understanding, Recording
January 20, 2026
On the 30th of October 2025, the Pathophysiology ECG Workshop took place in the MediSkillsLab of our Medical School for the second time. It was a project carried out by student demostrators in collaboration with the Institute for Translational Medicine. The aim of the event was to introduce third-year medical students to the practical use of ECG diagnostics in an enjoyable, hands-on way. The focus was not only on practicing procedures but also on diagnosing and analysing complex ECG curves under real-life conditions (pressure of limited time, need to make quick decisions). The event was organized as a motivating competition.
The workshop included four stations: three were dedicated to advanced ECG analysis based on clinical case scenarios, while at the fourth station participants had the opportunity to record ECG curves themselves. Since the ability to correctly interpret an electrocardiogram is one of the fundamental competencies of every future physician, the workshop offered a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
As in the previous year, the event was open to all students— those of the English, the German, and of the Hungarian Programmes. A total of 26 groups (3 students each) — 7 English, 5 German, and 14 Hungarian — involving 78 students participated in the four rooms of the MediSkillsLab.
After the competition, interesting and unusual ECG cases from clinical practice were discussed together with the students. Finally, based on the generous support from Circle of Demonstrator Studens (DDK), the best performances were recognised: The best team in each room received prizes in acknowledgment of their commitment and expertise, and all participants received small gifts and a certificate.
Participant feedback was consistently positive:
“Fun way to learn!”
“I learned a lot and I was pushed to learn more!”
“Very enjoyable experience.”
“We enjoyed the workshop very much, it was really helpful!”
The positive comments clearly show how much students appreciate the workshop and how effectively it contributes to practical learning.
The workshop was organized by Dr Erika Pétervári, supported by Dr Márta Balaskó, Dr Gréta Pham-Dobor, Dr Fanni Pólai, Dr Franciska Baksa, Réka Meszéna, Benedek Kasza and Dr Alexandra Hencz, together with the student demonstrators: Yashwanth Sudheendra Gowda, Mohammad Ihsan Giffry Zafar Hussain, Richard Behr, Csongor Attila Fellner, Zétény Csonka, Patrik Deák, András Fekete, Zsóka Gáspár, Johannes Hainzl, Stefánia Hollókövi, Kristóf Káposztás, Lili Hanna Kovács, Júlia Müller, Milán Szabó, Máté Szilágyi, Boróka Varga.
For the organisers, it was a great pleasure to work with smart and dedicated students, and the positive feedback provides strong motivation for organising future workshops. The professional environment of the MediSkillsLab once again proved to be an ideal setting for workshops that model real clinical situations. The generous and enduring support of the Circle of Demonstrator Students (DDK) is motivating us strongly to continue and to improve our efforts.
