July 1, 2025
Institute of Physiology Report
Five colleagues from our institute – Dr. Olga Zagoracz, Dr. Szidónia Farkas, Adrienn Szabó, Dr. Evelin Szabó and Dorottya Várkonyi – participated in the international conference FENS Regional Meeting 2025 (FRM2025) held in Oslo from 16 to 19 June 2025. FRM2025 is a regional neuroscience conference organized by FENS (Federation of European Neuroscience Societies), which is a prominent event of the European neuroscience community.
The conference featured numerous lectures and poster sessions covering areas that define modern neuroscience, from basic research to clinical applications. Among the lectures, the presentation by Nobel laureate Edvard I. Moser on the role of the entorhinal cortex in the mechanisms of memory and spatial orientation stood out. The conference's key topics included:
-
Neural Networks
-
Plasticity, Cognition, Behavior and Memory
-
Hippocampal and Hypothalamic Circuits
-
NeuroAI
-
Neuroinflammation and Neurodegeneration
-
Alzheimer's Disease
We are particularly pleased that our institute's researcher, Dr. Szidónia Farkas, also won a Travel Grant, which enabled her to participate in the conference
Posters by our researchers:
-
Dr. Olga Zagorácz: Administration of neuropeptide QRFP into the lateral hypothalamus affects social memory in wistar rats.
-
Dr. Szidónia Farkas: Protective Effects of Dehydroepiandrosterone on the Cholinergic System and Glial Cells in a Neurotoxic Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model.
-
Adrienn Szabó: The Role of Uncoupling Protein 2 (UCP2) in Stress Adaptation: Insights from a Knock-out.
-
Dr. Evelin Szabó: Vasopressin at the Crossroad of Depression and Schizophrenia: Studies in Rats.
-
Dorottya Várkonyi: Investigating Thermoregulatory Impairments in Alzheimer’s disease: The effect of Senktide and Rolipram in Male 3xTg-AD Mice.
