Día de Los Muertos // Los Orangutanes - International Seasons
Nappali Bar
The Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is one of Mexico's best-known and most colorful holidays. In 2010, UNESCO declared this holiday, based on Mexican Aztec traditions, to be part of humanity's intangible cultural heritage.
This holiday is not about sadness, but about celebrating life – the colorful skulls, cheerful parades, and close-knit communities all reflect this.
During the afternoon workshop, Mexican students at the University of Pécs will introduce the details of the tradition. With their guidance, we will have the opportunity to make characteristic floral decorations, colorful sugar skulls, or calaveras, or even the elegant skeleton wearing a dress and hat, La Catrina.
With the prepared props and painted faces – all of which are central symbols of the holiday – the musical parade can begin to the Theater Square and back, culminating in the evening at Los Orangutanes wild cumbia party.
